Juneteenth and How Your Family Can Celebrate

What is Juneteenth?

On January 1, 1863, President Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation but news didn't reach the enslaved in Galveston, Texas until 1865. We celebrate Juneteenth on June 19, to honor the day that ALL Black Americans became free.
